Airplanes rarely follow the great circle route exactly. To improve results it is therefore advisable to enter overflight times at points along your route that are close to the longitude of the events (sunrise/-set, moonrise/-set). For even bigger differences (e.g. Japan to Europe eastbound) enter a distinctive point along the route first (e.g. somewhere over Alaska).
